One of the features that some messaging apps such as Telegram offers to its users, is the ability to display the latest online status of each user. This ability makes it easy for us to find out when some of Telegram users were online and when they are offline. Although this feature is functional in many ways, it may not be pleasant in some circumstances, and we would want that nobody be aware of our online status. For this reason, in what follows, we discuss about Telegram online status and show you how to hide your Telegram last seen and turn it to Last seen recently.
Telegram Last Seen
Last seen means the last time a user was online on a service like messaging app. If you see your Telegram contacts list section and choose one of them and open their profiles, you will probably encounter a number of them that last online status of them is “recently“.
These people hid their last seen status on Telegram and so you can’t see their last seen time and you just see the “recently” word after the “last seen” phrase. Maybe even these people are online now, but you will not be able to see their online status. You will only see their status in online mode, when you start a chat with them and they start typing in Telegram.
Other programs like Instagram has the ability to hide the online status that we talking about them before. Telegram also have the same capabilities, and we want to talk about it. But how can we enable this feature and hide the Telegram last seen or the last time that we were online in this application? Before doing this, you need to keep an eye out:
Notice: By hiding the Telegram last seen status, in addition to that other Telegram users can’t to see you online status, you can’t to see their online status too, even if their online status settings are showed for everyone else! Please note that even if the contact has not enabled this feature, you will still not be able to see its latest online status. In fact, by hiding the Telegram online status, the online status of all your contacts will be changed to Last seen recently.
Now that we know this point in the Telegram, we will look at how we will do this.
Hiding Telegram Last Seen
- Run the Telegram application.
- Go to “Settings” through the hamburger menu at the top of the page.
- Select the “Privacy and Security” option.
- Select “Last seen” option.

- In this section you can choose any of these options:
- Everybody : All Telegram users can see your latest online status.
- My Contacts : Only your Telegram contacts can see your latest online status.
- Nobody : No one can see your latest online status.
turn Telegram online status to Last seen recently
By choosing Nobody, you will actually hide your Telegram last seen status and no one can see it. So you also can not see the last seen activity time of other Telegram users. At the bottom of the page, there is another option that is displayed under the heading “Always share with“. If we choose this option, we can exclude a number of our contacts from this rule and share our online status with them.
In fact, with this feature, you can only allow a certain number of your contacts access to your last active time, and you can also see their latest online time.
