How to test the battery health for iPhone and Android?

Test the phone battery health

We all know that all the batteries used in different electronic devices have a useful life, which after being finished, they are no longer operational and must be replaced. This is also evident in mobile devices, and we see that after a while the battery life is no longer operational, and will run out of charge sooner than before. But sometimes, before battery life runs out, the performance of the battery is weakened and and needs more charging than usual, which can be caused by software bugs and can be fixed without having to replace the battery. To find out, the best way is to test the battery health, which will allow you to realize whether the problem of battery drain is due to its useful life or the software problems.

Keep in mind that some problems like the phone turning off by itself, would not necessarily appear because of battery problems.

Battery life of the phone

Most of the batteries used in the design of smartphones are lithium ion, which are identified by the term “Li-ion“. Batteries made from this element are capable of recharging, and every time can be recharged to 100%, after being discharged. However, the number of times a lithium-ion battery can be charged is limited, and once they reach that limit, they will gradually lose their performance.

Of course in some cases, there are, some conditions that increase battery life, and in some cases reduce it. This way, it can be concluded that if your device’s battery life is near the end of its life, it’s best to replace the battery, and it’s best not to use a lot of solutions like battery calibration, etc.

Usually the battery life of a phone can last for 2 to 4 years. But in general, for determining the useful life of lithium-ion batteries, the maximum number of charges is considered. For example, normally the lifetime of a lithium-ion battery is around 1000 times, it means that it can normally be used up to 1000 times of battery drain and recharge.

But as noted above, sometimes software problems make the phone charge empty much faster than before, creating an impression in the user’s mind that the battery life may have been expired and needs to be replaced. But the cost of replacing the battery is usually high and on the other hand, in today’s mobile phones, battery replacement is difficult and requires a specialist.

Of course, it should not be forgotten that, unfortunately the battery models in the market are not of good quality and have much shorter battery life than their original ones. So the best solution is to test the battery health and ensure that the useful battery life is over before replacing the battery, and if so, replace the battery with a new one.

To test the battery health on our Android phones, we can use both the various apps designed for this purpose and Android command codes. Examples of Android-powered battery-testing apps that work great, include programs such as AccuBattery and Kaspersky Battery Life, which can be used to test the battery health.

But in addition to the above apps, Android has a battery health test that can be displayed with a command code. To do this, you must open the numbering keyboard, then dial the code *#*#4636#*#*.

If your Android version and your Android device are able to read this code, the screen will be displayed as follows. By looking at the “Battery info” section, you can see the battery health information. If “Battery health” is “Good“, it means that your battery life is not finished yet and the battery life is appropriate.

If your cellphone does not display a page by executing the code above, the only way is to use apps that we’ve introduced in the previous section.

Test the Battery health in iPhone

To test the health of the battery on the iPhone, there’s a very simple way you can do through the phone itself, without the need to install a specific program. To do this, just follow the steps below:

1. See the Settings section of your phone.

2. Select “Battery” option.

3. On the screen that opens, touch “Battery Health“.

In this section, if 100% was placed in front of the phrase “Maximum Capacity“, it means that the battery life is not yet finished and the battery is in perfect health. But if this number is between 50 and 60, it means that the battery life of your phone has expired, and now it is running with half of its initial capacity. In other words, the 100% charge of your phone will last as much as 50% usage of the battery when first you purchased your iPhone.

Sometimes, the emptiness of your phone’s battery can be a sign of phone being hacked! So it is also a good idea to prevent your phone from being hacked.
